Westjet Care for Kids

WestJet Care for Kids was launched in March, 2007 as an investment for the community. WestJet also supports seven national charities that work to improve children’s health and wellness.

WestJet help people through the air transport which they call “the gift of flight”. As the airline supports the charities focused on health and wellness of children, they are impacting the lives of kids positively. The donations by the airline helps these charities to deliver essential programs to children and serve to reduce their cost of business travel.

Children who have specialized medical requirements are given a customized guest experience. WestJet also hosts fundraising events for these charities.

Have you ever had any experience of the gift of flight or do you know any person who had it ?

Westjet and Environment

WestJet is focused on developing and guaranteeing that it is a naturally practical air transport. The carrier is resolving to alleviate greenhouse gas emissions from the burning of aviation fuel while operating an airplane and utilizing non-renewable vitality sources to heat and power infrastructure and operational equipment owned by WestJet.

The airline has one of the most youthful and most fuel productive armada of planes in North America. As indicated by Boeing information, fuel productivity and outflows from the Next-Generation 737 aircraft (600, 700 and 800 arrangements) are roughly 15 to 30 % lower on every seat than the fleet of 737-200 series airplane the carrier replaced somewhere around 2000 and 2003. The investment in innovation and technology by the carrier enhanced its capability to work all the more adequately and effectively.

Between 2000 and 2012, the airline improved their fuel efficiency by 44.8 per cent per revenue tonne kilometer. The resulting fuel savings are equivalent to the amount of fuel that would have been used to fly a Boeing Next-Generation 737 from Calgary to Toronto and back approximately 44,135 times (based on 2012 fuel usagde).

For the reduction in fuel consumption the airline started installing winglets-wing-tip extensions in 2003. In 2004 the installation was complete resulting 2.7% less consumption per flight in Boeing 737, 700 and 800 series. In order to reduce fuel consumption the airline bought engines with tech-insertions features since 2007.

The WestJet head office building in Calgary that opened in 2009 was built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)standards and was subsequently awarded a gold LEED certification in 2011. The innovations in our six-storey home base offers numerous efficiencies including maximized natural light, rainwater reclamation tanks, geothermal heating and efficient fixtures

Is the airline justifying the statements stated above?
